The Sevastopol "university" told about students from 36 countries
The "press service of Sevastopol State University" (SevSU) said that students from Germany, France, Morocco, Iran and more than 30 other countries study at the Russian-controlled "university".
"At the beginning of 2025 the number of foreign citizens studying at SevDU is about 600 people. Among them are students from Europe (Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic); large Asian countries - People's Republic of China, Republic of India; citizens of the Middle East (Syrian Arab Republic, Republic of Iraq, Islamic Republic of Iran). There are even representatives of the South American continent - the Republic of Colombia," the university said. It was added that citizens of 11 post-Soviet countries, including Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and others, as well as 16 African countries, including Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and South Africa, also study at SevDU. In total, students from 36 countries are currently enrolled at SevDU. The total number of students is more than 14.4 thousand people, of whom 45% are residents of occupied Sevastopol, the rest are foreigners from the Russian Federation and the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Earlier, on February 14, "governor of Sevastopol" Mikhail Razvozhayev, during a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, spoke about plans to build a new campus in Holland Bay, which could become an "education center" for young people from the occupied territories of Ukraine and from the countries of the global South. In response, Putin announced his support for this initiative. Subsequently, Razvozhayev noted that the project is planned to be implemented by 2035 year.
Recently, the "Voice of Crimea" reported about the creation of an "international friendship club" in occupied Sevastopol with the participation of foreign students from 24 countries.
