Ukraine will scale up laser weapons of domestic production
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun testing a domestic laser weapon under the military name Tryzub. This was announced by Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Vadym Sukharevskyi.
The new weapon system was presented by Ukraine at the conference "European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Industry."
"We can state that today Ukraine is, if I'm not mistaken, the fifth country that can say that it has a laser. Today, we can shoot down airplanes at an altitude of over 2 km with this laser, and we are now on the way to scaling it up and strengthening it. It really works, it really exists," Sukharevsky said."
Defense Express noted that such a combat laser with such characteristics is really not an ordinary thing. Because the announced range and class of the target can already speak volumes."
"The Trident combat laser is fully consistent with the American LaWS and the British DragonFire in terms of the announced parameters," states Defense Express.
It is noted that the Ukrainian laser "Tryzub" can hit an aircraft at a distance of 2 km, and also says quite directly that the issue of positioning has been resolved: it is possible to hit an aircraft moving at a speed of up to 200 km/h.Also, this laserweapon can be used to destroy drones, cruise missiles, helicopters and airplanes at a distance of up to 10 km.
Commander Sukharevsky said that the Ukrainian Trident is ready to scale up and strengthen the laser.
