Deportation of Ukrainians from the occupied Crimea: a new case for the Virtual Museum of Russian Aggression
Vladyslav Miroshnychenko, analyst of the Crimean Center for Business and Cultural Cooperation "Ukrainian House" prepared a new case (story) for the Virtual Museum of Russian Aggression
"This time about the deportation of Ukrainians from the occupied Crimea and the illegal settlement of the peninsula by Russians. About 1 million Russians moved to Crimea, and 200,000 Ukrainians were forced to leave it, which completely changed the demography of the peninsula. The scale of this crime is enormous," the author of the material noted.
In the material "Russia is changing the demographic composition of the occupied territories" notes that the demography of the occupied Ukrainian territories is being changed by the aggressor state deliberately and consistently, in an attempt to permanently erase any trace of Ukrainianness from these lands.
"For the aggressor state, the deportation of Ukrainian citizens from the occupied Crimea is not only a way to get rid of activists. It is also one of the tools to change the demographic composition of the population of the occupied peninsula, one of the largest international crimes committed in the occupied territories. The place of Ukrainian citizens displaced from the occupied Crimea is occupied by illegal migrants who are purposefully moved to "develop new territories" from all regions of Russia," Vladyslav Miroshnychenko states in the article.
The purpose of project "Virtual Museum of Russian Aggression" is to accumulate the achievements of public authorities, public initiatives and international organizations in documenting the course and consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine for presentation in a modern accessible form to the widest possible audience.
