A Siberian choir with a "patriotic" program is being brought to Crimea
The State Academic Siberian Russian Folk Choir has planned a tour of the occupied territories of Crimea and Sevastopol. According to the all-Russian tour and concert plan of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the choir will perform a "special" concert program in Kerch (April 15), Sevastopol (April 17) and Yalta (April 18).
The premiere of the concert program "Podnoshenie Podvigu" ("Offering of the feat"), with which the Siberian choir is going to the occupied Crimea, took place at the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg on January 27, 2024, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the complete lifting of the city's blockade during World War II.
The band's social media pages state that the program is "a tribute to gratitude and admiration for the resilience of the Soviet people and the dedication of Siberians who took part in the battles for the liberation of the country, an opportunity to confirm through artistic means the uniqueness of the unity of the Russian mentality, special strength, resilience and optimism, a symbol of the eternal memory of the events that the Soviet people experienced."
The program includes Russian folk songs, wartime songs and works by contemporary authors, choreographic, vocal and orchestral compositions that "reflect the events and era of not only wartime but also optimistic peacetime." In addition, the team hopes to impress the Crimean audience not only with their vocal performance, but also with a collection of costumes created "in compliance with all the canons of Russian traditional dress."
In the occupied Crimea, the Siberian choir will perform within the framework of the "We Are Russia" program, which aims to support Russian choreographic and choral groups, orchestras and ensembles of folk instruments, song and dance theaters, as well as "strengthening cultural ties between the regions of Russia and popularizing national art among a wide audience."
