Over a year in Crimea, more than 1,500 people changed their names
In 2024, "civil registry offices" in the TOT of Crimea registered 1656 records of acts of change of name, including surname, first name and/or patronymic. This figure is 38 records more than in 2023.
The most frequent places where such a service was requested last year were Simferopol (408 people) and the district (201), as well as Kerch (137), Yevpatoria (122), Feodosia (119) and Yalta (106).
In their respective "statements", residents of the TOT of the AR of Crimea, among the reasons that prompted them to change their first name, surname and/or patronymic, indicated the desire to bring their personal "documents" in line, to bear a premarital or common surname with their spouse, as well as the desire to change their full name (most often their first name) to a radically new one.
In November 2024, the Voice of Crimea reported about the detention of a 19-year-old resident of occupied Simferopol, Eva-Brown Golichnikova, who until September 2023 was called Natalia. The reason for the attention of the occupation forces to her was the publication of the song "Red Viburnum" and recordings in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Russian social network VKontakte
