Ukraine and the US give a new start to negotiations on minerals

Negotiations on an agreement between the United States and Ukraine on the use of mineral resources have come to an end. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a telethon

In the "Bilateral agreement on the establishment of the terms and conditions of the Reconstruction Investment Fund to to Deepen the Partnership between the United States of America and Ukraine", the final text of which was published by Yevropeiska Pravda states: 

"The Government of the The United States government supports Ukraine's efforts to obtain the security assurances necessary to build a lasting peace. Participants will seek to identify any necessary steps to protect mutual investments as defined in the Fund Agreement  

Denys Shmyhal also said that bilateral agreement on the establishment of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine provides for the use of only future revenues from the extraction of of Ukraine's mineral resources.

"This agreement is about the future. That is, future revenues, received by Ukraine from royalties or licenses for minerals, from dividends on infrastructure facilities used for transportation or extraction of of minerals," the Prime Minister said. 

According to him, ukraine will invest 50% of such revenues in this joint fund with the United States ukraine's recovery, the United States, for its part, will make appropriate contributions. This fund will invest these funds in the development, restoration, and security of Ukraine And security of Ukraine. The fund will be managed by the governments of Ukraine and the United States.
