Helping the enemy army: four "volunteers" from Crimea to be tried

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea submitted to the court indictments against four Ukrainian citizens who systematically assist the enemy army. Their actions are qualified as aiding the aggressor state (Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years in prison

The investigation established that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the accused began active "volunteer" activities aimed at supporting the armed forces of the aggressor state. In 2022-2023, they created "charitable foundations" in Simferopol, Sevastopol and Staryi Krym, which raised funds and material assistance for the enemy army. In particular, the defendants repeatedly transferred material resources (combat and tactical equipment, accessories to weapons, camouflage nets, generators, communications equipment, vehicles, food, etc.) to units of the Russian Armed Forces engaged in hostilities against Ukraine. As an example, in March 2023, one of the defendants reported "completing 100% of the training" for more than 30 Russian military units, as well as systematically providing assistance to 10-15 such units

In order to "widely publicize" and attract the population of the peninsula to "charity", information about the collection, as well as "reports" on their work, "volunteers" published on social networks

We would like to remind that earlier, a former Ukrainian athlete from Crimea was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, following a public prosecution by the prosecutor's office of the Autonomy. Special pre-trial investigations were carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in the AR of Crimea
