The visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Washington ended with a heated public discussion with US President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance. During the meeting in the Oval Office, which was supposed to be followed by the signing of the fossil fuel agreement, a dispute arose between Trump, Vance, and Zelensky. Vance began to humiliate the Ukrainian side, and Trump said that without Washington, Kyiv has no "cards to play," so Ukraine should be grateful for the help it has already received. The US president once again voiced the figure of $350 billion, which is far from being true.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in response that the United States has no right to tell Ukraine what to do. All of this happened live in front of dozens of cameras. After that, the media, citing the White House, reported that Trump was no longer interested in signing the minerals agreement. The White House released a statement emphasizing that American leaders act in the interests of their country's citizens. Donald Trump wrote on social media that Vladimir Zelensky is not ready for peace and should return when he is. Almost all members of Trump's cabinet have expressed support for his actions. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that the Ukrainian president should now resign. He responded that the decision to resign should be made by the Ukrainian people.

Thus, the President of Ukraine does not bow to pressure, even when he meets with the most influential politicians in the world. The President's straightforward and uncompromising position on the war demonstrates that Kyiv does not want to fall victim to political bargaining. Volodymyr Zelensky clearly stated that a ceasefire without real security guarantees will only freeze the conflict and give Russia a chance to regroup for a new offensive. Despite any political changes in the United States, Europe and much of the American establishment remain committed to supporting Ukraine. Senator Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Senate Democrats, stated bluntly: "President Trump is doing Putin's dirty work". Senator C. Murphy called the meeting "a complete humiliation for America."

U.S. Democratic governors have condemned Trump's pressure on Zelenskyy in the White House. In a statement, they said that "Americans should defend strong democratic values on the world stage, not undermine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's activities."Zelenskyy's struggle to defend his country and the freedom of his people after Russia's invasion."

World-renowned American historian Timothy Snyder said that the whole idea of peace was just a pretext for restoring relations with Russia. And so, the Trump administration blames the victim, blames Ukraine, and mistreating the victim will not end the war of aggression. "The United States is appeasing evil," warns the famous American futurist and philosopher Francis Fukuyama. "We are in the midst of a global struggle between Western liberal democracy and authoritarian governments, and in this struggle, the United States has just switched sides and joined the authoritarian camp," Fukuyama said. Former Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton said that "Trump and Vance have effectively announced that they are on Russia's side in the Russian-Ukrainian war....And this is a catastrophic mistake for America's national security."

European leaders also reaffirmed that Ukraine's struggle is a struggle for the whole of democratic Europe. The statements of the leaders of France, Poland, Spain and others showed that regardless of US policy, Europe remains on the side of Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez fully supported Ukraine. The EU leadership has also done so. The spat between Trump and Vance on live TV was a striking violation of Oval Office etiquette. The prime ministers of Australia and Canada expressed support for Ukraine. Both leaders expressed their admiration for Zelenskyy's courage and leadership in the fight against Russian invasion.

"New Zealand remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine," said Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also expressed his support for the Ukrainian President. He stated that "no one wants peace more than Ukrainians. That is why we are working on a common path to a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany - and on Europe". German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said that Ukraine is not alone and "Germany, together with its European allies, stands shoulder to shoulder against Russian aggression." Potential new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also expressed support for Ukraine. According to him, "we should never confuse the aggressor and the victim in this terrible war."

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave an interview to Fox News after a dispute with US President Donald Trump in the White House. According to Zelenskyy, the argument during his meeting with Trump in the Oval Office erupted because of "stories that Ukraine has already been destroyed, millions have died, and the president is a dictator. Where is the friendship between the United States and Ukraine?" the president asked.

Asked whether he regrets what happened in the White House, Zelensky replied: "Yes, it was not good." In his opinion, some things should be discussed with partners without cameras. The President added that he was very grateful to the American people, D.Trump and the Congress for supporting Ukraine, and believes that relations with the United States can still be saved. According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian side wants to sign an agreement with the United States and is ready to do so. This agreement should be the first step towards security guarantees. He added that the US, Europe and Ukraine should be at the negotiating table, but in a strong position. However, first we need to get security guarantees, and only then move on to diplomacy.

British politician Douglas Alexander called the President of Ukraine "probably the bravest European leader since Churchill". This is reported by the Financial Times. It is very surprising that so far Trump has never condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Famous German journalist Paul Ronzheimer believes that the dispute between the American president, vice president and Ukrainian leader is a tragic event that could change the world. The author calls on European leaders to act urgently and gather for an emergency meeting to protect themselves from Putin's threat.

At the same time, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer invited more than a dozen European leaders to the summit to "take forward" actions on Ukraine and security. Starmer will meet with the Ukrainian president in Downing Street before the main summit. The EU is also continuing to work on new aid packages that will be implemented regardless of Washington's position. The change of administration in the US does not mean an automatic change of course: The Congress, the Senate and the US allies in NATO understand the strategic importance of supporting Kyiv.

Ukraine has already proved that even under the most difficult conditions it can effectively deter one of the largest armies in the world, the Russian one. This is the best investment in global security, which is guaranteed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
