On January 14, UKrinform hosted a roundtable discussion on "Violation of the right to education in the state language in the context of the occupied Crimea."
The event was organized by the Crimean Center for Business and Cultural Cooperation "Ukrainian House" with the support of the Crimean Ukrainian Council and the International Renaissance Foundation. Since 2014, the team of this organization has been monitoring and documenting violations of the right to education in the state language in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
There are real results that I am sharing with you:
1/ The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, has already opened criminal proceedings against two leaders of the so-called "ministry of education and science" in the so-called "authorities of the Republic of Crimea". These are Natalia Goncharova, who betrayed Ukraine in 2014 and worked with the occupation authorities in 2014-2019, and Valentyna Lavryk, who has been in charge of education in the occupied Crimea since 2019.
For more details, read the article by Natalia Goncharova and Valentyna Lavryk - "Conductors of the occupation regime's criminal policy in education in the TOT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea."
The pre-trial investigation is currently underway. In the near future, the cases will be submitted to the court. We are waiting for the decision of the Ukrainian judiciary.
2/ 8 applications were filed to open criminal proceedings against the so-called deputies - "the post of Minister of Education and Science" in the so-called "authorities of the Republic of Crimea."
Read more in the article: "Promoters of the criminal policy of the occupation regime in education in the TOT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea: "Deputy Ministers of Education".
In the near future, law enforcement agencies will consider the statements and the attached facts about the establishment of crimes, and will be informed about the opening of criminal proceedings.
We continue to monitor the situation in the occupied territory and document the facts of crimes of the occupation regime of the aggressor country, the Russian Federation. Video from the public event can be viewed here
